Strawberry Skirtcake

Forever 21 button down, skirt, rings; Vintage bow pendant; Aldo Shoes; Essie nailpolish- To Buy or Not To Buy

Its been a while since I wore a pretty pink skirt. I rarely wear pink to begin with, but I forgot how feminine it makes me feel and how flattering it can be if worn properly. Its also that time of year when there are plenty of graduations, First Communions, and family parties to go to.  I went for a preppier look with my pleated skirt and button down woven because I know there are plenty of girls out there that can have trouble pairing a skirt like this with a shirt. In my mind, I say, "Keep It Simple". A little bit goes a long way, so the next time you're going through your closet, don't second guess yourself, chances are you're like me and will end up wearing the first outfit you tried on to begin with. :)
Happy Tuesday!

Homemade Facial

Lately, I've been stressing out about so many things, that its been causing me to break out. Then I get stressed about breaking out and the cycle starts all over again. I was talking to my friend, Adrienne, about my predicament, last week, when she told me about a DIY honey and oatmeal mask that works wonders with all types of skin! So I had her give me the run-through on making it and I couldn't believe I had a mini spa treatment right in my pantry.

Ingredients
1/4 regular oatmeal
1/4 lukewarm water
2 teaspoons of honey

Step 1: Grind the oatmeal in a blender. This prevents the mask from being too clumpy and allows for an easier application.

Step 2: Add 1/4 cup of water to the blended oatmeal in a small bowl or container.  Make sure the oatmeal is gooey enough to stay on your skin. {In case its not thick enough, add more oatmeal}.

Step 3: Stir in 2 teaspoons of honey.  {Honey is an amazing treatment for skin that is prone to breakout and acne because it removes any bacteria that lingers on your skin}.

Step 4: Apply to your face and allow to set for about 10-15 minutes.
* If there is any mask leftover, use it on the rest of your body in the shower as a body wash.

If any of you lovely followers have any simple DIY secrets, please share them down below. I'd love to try them out and share them with everyone! :)

White Noise

Forever 21 dress, ring, necklace; American Eagle jacket; Shoe Dazzle shoes; Etsy ring; New York and Company purse; Essie: Van D' Go, Carnival; Sephora for OPI: Queen of Everything

Hearing about a castle in New Jersey, at this day in age, I was so intrigued to visit and use the venue for a post to share with you!
Pleated dresses and skirts have been making their way into my closet lately along with thick, 4-inch heels, and this classic denim jacket. I haven't worn a plain, white dress since my First Communion, but it was so refreshing and crisp- I loved it! I never believed in the whole "white after Memorial Day and before Labor Day" law that people seem to think exist. If it looks amazing and is weather appropriate, why wait? Fashion was never about abiding rules or laws anyway.
Happy weekend, my lovely followers! :)

Pick-Me-Ups

Everyone needs a few pick-me-ups every so often to get them through rainy days or bad weeks at work or school. Here are just a few of my favorite things that always tickle my fancy when time seems like its slow and dreary in the middle of the month:

Nights out for dinner with the girls are a great way to catch up and get away from the stress from work, school, and life. {I look forward to these twice a month.}

 Family BBQ's usually result in family reunions where we act goofy and reminisce of years gone by. {Target straw fedora; Forever 21 top}

 I'm currently obsessed with Instagram; an app that lets you blog through photos. I try to post a photo everyday, whether it be an outfit of the day, food, or just random finds. {I love my followers and their photos. A lot of the users are very talented and see such magnificent things all over the world.} {American Eagle denim jacket, skinny jeans and bag; Forever 21 sweater and booties; Old Navy tank top; Macy's scarf; J. Crew IPhone case}

 Manicures- whether it be self or professional- always make me feel better on a gloomy day. {I love playing with trends and fun colors.} {VanD'Go and Carnival - Essie; Queen of Everything- Sephora by OPI}

I have this new obsession with pleats. They're just so feminine and flirty and contrast amazingly with my leather bomber! {Skirt and dress- Forever 21}

Boardwalk Watching

 Banana Republic chambray shirt; J. Crew tank top; Forever 21 skirt, ring, necklace, linked bracelets; Thrifted belt; Ann Taylor Loft double bracelet; Gifted beaded bracelet; American Eagle sunglasses; Mandee wedges; Marc by Marc Jacobs bag; OPI nail polish:

This is our last post from our Coney Island visit; you can't go to Coney Island without walking the boardwalk and people watching.  I love people watching. Whenever I would have lunch in the city during Spring and Summer between classes, I would sit in Bryant Park or anywhere where I could find a seat outside and just watch people race to where ever it was they were going {usually in NY no one walks anywhere, they're practically running}. I'd look at their outfits and come up with stories with my friends about who they were and what kind of jobs they could have. It's one of my favorite ways to get inspired for my own outfits and projects as well.
Is there anything you'd like to see us feature in our upcoming posts? We're brainstorming a lot of new ideas!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week! xoxo

Sincerely,
P & D
